We had a few meetings from time to time to try and figure out what we were going to do. It took about 3 meetings to figure out that we were not going to be able to see the whole world on a budget of under $5000.

Rick Steves is... simply put... he's the "Pimp of the European Nation" The man has been on countless trips through Europe and turned himself into the one man guru of travel.
We have read his book (well skimmed it anyway... its like a 1000 pages of travel guide insanity... no one could actually read it straight through), Europe through the Back Door.
Mark Fromer was able to go see him in person when he was visiting Notre Dam a little while ago...
He has become a bit of a personal hero and celebrity to the crew and it is our secret mission to somehow meet him while he is traveling in Europe.
He lists his where abouts on his website...

One of our desires early on when planning the SuperTrip '07 was that we have at least one destination that we would show up at and commit some time of service. After watching a few documentaries like "Born into Brothels " and "Invisible Childern " it seemed that we should try to at least place ourselves in a situation where we could contribue something and get to know the culture well enough to understand some of the issues facing the people we would leave behind.
Nothing was seeming to pan out, and then Greg came accross the Malaga Media Center through Avant Ministries.
They run a TV and radio program at the Malaga Media Center...
That seemed like a perfect fit for a group of traveling video aficionado nerds who like to make websites.

So we talked about the trip off and on for several months, then we decided that we needed to have some meetings in order to have a real sense of accomplishment. One evening Johny and I got together and we mapped out our travel plans, at this time we still thought that we were going to see the entire world. In time this idea proved to be too expensive and too touristy to be worthwhile... nevertheless we had a meeting, put pins on a mpa and felt really good about it.

I don't remember the exact date, but it must have been sometime in April of '06... I think I had an extra long week of dealing with my quarter life crisis and I was feeling awefully trapped by everything. I started thinking about what it would be like to be completely free for a while, not just a vacation... but to experience a different life for long enough that I could forget how I used to live and truly experience something new and fresh.
