rei_research_68.JPG Mark gets excited about ideas. This trip looks just like a good idea to him--it's got risk and potential reward, it's not quite like what he's done before, it costs something. Let's say there's a chess move where you sacrifice a piece but win the game. Mark doesn't always see those moves, but if he happens to notice, that's the moment in his life when he feels the least doubt. You have to do it.

Mark studied philosophy in college and doesn't know how to apply it except to everything. His occupation for 3 years has been trying to help teens see if the path they're on leads to problems, and trying to help them change paths if they want. He has almost no hope of carrying on a conversation unless it's passionate.

Mark needs to learn about human beings and God on this trip to make it pay off. To help yourself learn, you can go to class, which Mark isn't knocking. Or you can just go somewhere you've never been.
