This is an archI suppose I should stop calling it an anniversary whenever we get together in the summer, but it does seem like a mood of reverence is always shared for that special summer in 2007, one that will never be repeated exactly the same.  Here we are 2 years later (photos to follow) suited up with packs and all to take in another adventure.

This little weekend foray into the wilderness did seem extra special, more than a mere get togethers in honor of the SuperTrip.  Its been 2 years, in many ways we have not changed much, but in some dimensions we are completely different people.  We discovered some of this, as usual... in conversation whilst walking, this time no camera to confuse intentions or postpone an honest moment.  Even SeaWolfe was caught off guard without his trusty SLR, all we get is digitally focused point and shoot pics from this trip.

It was the reunion of the original Band of Savages; Johny, Shane, Mark, and SeaWolfe (still a bit behind, but some things should not change with time).  Inspired by a recent trip to West Virginia with a few friends I wanted to take this summers expedition into the wilderness with the intent of being swallowed up by nature and with the desperation of shallow food supplies, long hikes, and an ever vigilant search for water.  I think we got all of that and a bit more.

Daniel Boone National Park in Kentucky was the selected destination.  I picked it after seeing one word used to describe the landscape, "Cliffty".  And it was cliffty indeed, miles of perilous 1000 foot sudden drops to your doom in some of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen.  I will never forget that view on the morning of moon rock with the misty dragon slowly retreating into the distance as beams of fresh sunlight cut through the valley.  I am working up some poetic language here, but I do believe that is about how we described it while standing there.  Never did see a rock arch though, only a rock bridge... they are very different.

The SuperTrip goes on, in our hearts always, and occasionally in flesh, blood, nature, conversation, arguments, prayer, and friendship... another long weekend I will never forget.
