nyc2007_305.JPGHey, so you could leave a comment anywhere on this site, but if you can't decide where to put your two cents... then go ahead and place it here. Any comment will do... but we could really use some advice...

  • Something we should see?
  • Somebody we should meet?
  • Someplace we should eat?
  • Something we should do?
  • Something we should avoid?

We need all the help we can get, just Americans...

Monet - Giverny - just outside of Paris
written by sarah mark, June 13, 2007
I emailed this to Greg & Mike & Sarah & Daniel...check it out

Fans of Monet's Water Lilies paintings won't want to miss visiting the tiny village of Giverny, where the impressionist lived from 1883 to his death in 1926. While an unfortunately placed road has spoilt the atmosphere of Monet's estate, his famous pastel pink-and-green house, Water Lily studio and seasonal flower-filled gardens are still intact.
A tunnel leads under the road to the Jardin d'Eau (Water Garden), where Monet dug a pool, planted water lilies and constructed the famous Japanese bridge, which has since been rebuilt. Draped with purple wisteria, the bridge blends into the asymmetrical foreground and background, creating the intimate atmosphere for which the 'Painter of Light' was famous.
Not far from here is the Musee d'Art Americain containing the works of many American Impressionists such as Theodore Robinson and Lilla Cabot Perry.

76 km west of Paris (two train rides-45 minute one, then 7 km, I have the details on which ones).

www.fondation-monet.com - costs 5 euros.

Look how beautiful this is!

Random Thoughts for Sevo
written by Kurt, May 25, 2007
A ski mask and ropes? Planning on doing some kidnapping whilst running about the country side?

I'm dissapointed, I did not see a packing stove in your list of hi tech gear. I suggest a Jet Boil, very light and efficient. It runs for hours on a can of fuel.

And no offence Sevo, but those gloves are no comparison to the classic, piss stained, gray, 32 oz. boxing gloves you used to wear in college on those cold winter days...no need for even a jacket with those puppies, I believe they actually added heat to your body. What's more, they were a major deterrent from muggers...and females as I recall.

You MUST make it to Rome and walk through the ancient City and go through the Vatican. The most amazing art/architecture you will see in Europe, in my opinion.

Re: Pee on Blarney Stone--I think that's a rumor of the most insidious variety spread by people who have already kissed the stone, or intend to, and want to cut down on the total number of kisses it receives in order to be in more select company.
I heard the Blarney Stone is urine soaked...

But this is an adventure and you need to do adventurous things when on an adventure... I intend to kiss that salty pee stained rock!

If you make it to Scotland, find a good native bakery and treat yourself to a meatpie or two. Other than that have a great time and take enough pictures so it seems like I was there.

Oh yeah, don't forget to kiss the Blanrney Stone.
